Arranging an assessment

Assessment takes place in the outpatient clinic of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital, 301 Huafu Avenue North Section, Jiulongpo District, Chongqing. Call the outpatient line, or use the channel described on the appointments page, and say that you are asking about skin laxity of the face or neck so that the right clinic time is booked.

What the consultation examines

The assessment looks at how the skin moves when it is drawn sideways and whether it springs back, at what happens to the face when the cheek is lifted gently with a hand, at the fat beneath the skin and the volume of the face, and at the skin type and how it has behaved after previous heat, injury or treatment. Photographs are taken in standard light, because the change this treatment produces is judged against your own earlier photographs rather than against memory. You should leave knowing which of the changes you describe are within reach, which are not, and what the alternatives are.

What to bring

Bring a list of your medication, and tell the team about any implanted electronic device, any metal or implant in the face or jaw, any previous energy-based or surgical treatment in the area, and any history of skin darkening or lightening after an injury. Mention any dental treatment planned in the coming weeks, whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and any numbness or reduced sensation in the face or neck. These answers change what can be done safely, and they are the reason the first consultation is a conversation rather than a quotation.

The review visit

A review two to three months after the last session of a series is part of the plan rather than an extra appointment. It is when the change is judged against your earlier photographs with the skin settled, when the honest size of the result is discussed, and when the decision about maintenance is taken. It is also the point at which the answer may be that the treatment did not produce a measurable change, and that is a finding to be acted on rather than a reason for another series.
